As a mom, I’m always looking for that sweet spot when we travel with the kids—a place where they can have fun and burn off some energy, but where I can enjoy myself too. Bermuda checks all the boxes. Between the gorgeous beaches, incredible caves, colorful towns, and endless opportunities to get out on the water, there’s something here for every member of the family. Here are 15 of our favorite things to do in Bermuda with kids.
1. Explore Crystal Cave
Crystal Cave was one of those places that immediately made the kids curious. Walking down into the cave and seeing the sparkling formations and bright blue water felt like stepping into another world. The kids loved looking at the stalactites and stalagmites and imagining that we were on some kind of secret underground expedition. It’s an easy activity to enjoy together, and definitely one I’d recommend adding to a family itinerary.
2. Check Out Fantasy Cave
Since Fantasy Cave is right near Crystal Cave, it makes sense to visit both while you’re there. The kids loved the feeling of exploring somewhere hidden beneath the island, and every turn seemed to reveal another interesting rock formation or pool. If your children enjoy adventures, caves, or anything that feels a little mysterious, they’ll have a great time here.
3. Have Lunch at the Swizzle Inn
After all that exploring, everyone was ready for food! The Swizzle Inn is a fun, casual stop with plenty of Bermuda character. The kids enjoyed looking around at all the writing and signatures covering the walls, while I loved the relaxed atmosphere. It’s also conveniently located near the caves, making it an easy place to stop when everyone is ready for a break and something to eat.
4. Visit the Unfinished Church
The Unfinished Church was such a fun little stop because it doesn’t look like your typical church. The huge stone walls and open-air design immediately caught the kids’ attention, and of course they had plenty of questions about why it was never finished. I love attractions like this when traveling with kids because you can spend a little time exploring without asking them to quietly walk through a museum for an hour.
5. Explore Bermuda’s Grottoes
There’s something about exploring a cave that makes kids feel like real adventurers, and Bermuda’s grottoes are no exception. Seeing the unusual rock formations and hidden pools gave us plenty to talk about afterward. It’s one of those experiences where the kids are learning about nature without even realizing they’re learning—and, as a mom, those are my favorite kinds of activities.
6. Spend Time in Hamilton
We loved wandering around Hamilton and taking in all the colorful buildings and waterfront views. The kids enjoyed watching the boats and ferries while we walked around the city, and naturally, we had to make time for a treat along the way. Hamilton is easy to explore at a relaxed pace, which I appreciate when traveling with kids because nobody wants a vacation that feels like one giant race from one attraction to the next.
7. Wander Through St. George’s
St. George’s is one of those places where simply walking around feels like an activity. The colorful buildings, narrow streets, and historic sites gave us plenty to look at, and the kids enjoyed playing little games as we explored. We challenged them to find interesting doors, unusual buildings, and their favorite street. It turned sightseeing into something they actually wanted to participate in.
8. Go Paddle Boarding
Paddle boarding was definitely one of our favorite ways to get out on the water. The clear Bermuda water makes it extra special because you can sometimes see fish swimming underneath you. The kids thought it was hilarious trying to balance on the boards, and there were plenty of laughs along the way. If your kids are old enough, it’s a great family activity that gets everyone outside and moving.
9. Spend the Day at Horseshoe Bay
Of course, we had to have plenty of beach time! Horseshoe Bay is exactly the kind of beach kids dream about, with beautiful pink sand and gorgeous blue water. We spent time swimming, playing in the sand, exploring the shoreline, and generally doing very little—which, honestly, is sometimes exactly what you need on vacation. I always try to leave room in our itinerary for unplanned beach time, and Bermuda makes that very easy.
10. Visit the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo
When the kids need a break from the sun, the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo is a great option. They can see colorful fish, animals, birds, and reptiles while learning more about Bermuda and its surrounding waters. It gave us a nice change of pace from our outdoor adventures and was especially helpful when we needed a little downtime from the heat.
11. Go Snorkeling
Snorkeling with the kids turned into our own little underwater treasure hunt. Bermuda’s clear water makes it easy to see colorful fish and marine life, and the kids were excited every time they spotted something new. If your children are beginners, start somewhere calm and shallow and let them get comfortable with the mask and snorkel. Watching their excitement when they see their first fish underwater is worth it!
12. Take a Glass-Bottom Boat Ride
If your kids aren’t quite ready for snorkeling, a glass-bottom boat is a wonderful alternative. They can still see the underwater world without having to get in the water. The kids loved looking down and trying to spot fish, while I enjoyed being able to sit back and take in the views. It’s one of those activities that works well for the whole family, especially when you have children of different ages.
13. Explore the Royal Naval Dockyard
We enjoyed spending time at the Royal Naval Dockyard because there was something for everyone. The kids could explore the historic buildings and waterfront while we browsed the shops and stopped for food. There’s enough to see and do that you can easily spend a few hours here without feeling like you’re dragging the kids from one historical site to another.
14. Have a Pink-Sand Treasure Hunt
One of the simplest activities ended up being one of the kids’ favorites: looking for pink sand. We turned it into a little treasure hunt and challenged them to find the pinkest sand, interesting shells, and other things along the shoreline. It was a great reminder that you don’t always need a big attraction to keep kids entertained. Sometimes all they need is a beach and a little imagination.
15. Take a Ferry Ride
Taking the ferry was more than just a way to get from one place to another—it became part of the adventure. The kids loved being out on the water, watching the boats, and seeing Bermuda from a completely different perspective. It was also a nice break from being in a car, and I loved that we could turn transportation into something the kids actually looked forward to.
Making Family Memories in Bermuda
The thing I loved most about Bermuda was how easy it was to keep the kids entertained without constantly having to plan something. One day we were exploring caves, another we were swimming in beautiful blue water, and another we were wandering through colorful historic towns. There was plenty to see and do, but there was also plenty of time to slow down, eat ice cream, play on the beach, and just enjoy being together. And as a mom, those are the moments I end up remembering most.
