Travel = Naps

Our little dude has never loved sleeping very much but I did not anticipate naps becoming a thing of the past so soon. He did transition from 2 naps to 1 very early in life so we should have anticipated as much. But, our anti-napper officially gave up naps altogether about 2 months ago, and over this summer we have been (mostly) unsuccessful in trying everything and anything to get our dude to continue with naps. However, when we travel Milo always naps like a champ. It may be a mix of the novelty of the new experiences, outdoor air, and lots of excitement. We may never know…. but we do know travel and adventure seems to be the one thing that will actually tire this kid out!

So here are some off the obscure places that naps have happened on our travels thus far:

Napping on a Hike in Crete, Greece

And the napping continued for more than just the start of the hike!

Napping in Jerusalem, Israel
Jerusalem, Nap lunch!
Napping En route to Athens, Greece!
Napping in Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar
Milo-nap lunch in Paris, France

Napping through Zion National Park Hikes

Long story short, there is something about all the stimulation of travelling that allows Milo to be in the perfect zone to actually be lulled to sleep during the day. For us, it is great because it gives us that extra chance to slow down that we typically can’t get while chasing our wild (and incredibly zippy) almost 2 year old around. Long weekend travels this summer have allowed us and our travel napper moments to let ourselves relax while getting immersed in new places.
